Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services
Since October 2008, MDHS/MDCPS has engaged the services of CSF to assist the agency in meeting the requirements of the Olivia Y Settlement Agreement. CSF is assisting the Mississippi Department of Human Services in developing and delivering a comprehensive statewide child welfare practice model that has been designed to guide caseworker interventions with children and families.
CSF’s work has included a broad assessment of the agency’s practices, outcomes and supports; the development of a statewide child welfare practice model; the design of a statewide Continuous Quality Improvement process; the design of an organizational implementation structure to guide implementation efforts; and the design of data report specifications needed to monitor progress and conformity to the Settlement Agreement requirements. Since 2009, CSF has been involved in supporting the implementation of the practice model and CQI processes statewide, including development and delivery of training to staff and supervisors, and onsite coaching of staff and supervisors in application of the practice model. Related activities have included supporting the development of policies needed to reform the system, setting up and carrying out data report validation processes. We are currently engaged in supporting the development and implementation of a statewide performance based contracting process that will be aligned with the practice model, CQI principles, and outcomes.
